My name is Christy and I completed my Bachelor of Speech Pathology from the University of Sydney. With my 6 years of working experience as an English tutor and 3 years of experience as a speech therapy assistant, I developed great flexibility and skills in delivering client-centred and interactive sessions that help children learn in a fun way.
I have experience working with children in a range of settings, including preschools (i.e., York, Cannan, Anfield School & local preschools in Australia), primary schools (American International School, 油麻地天主教小學, 北角循道學校, 啟思小學), community health clinics and hospitals. I also have experience working with children with speech, language and literacy difficulties as well as children with special education needs (ASD & ADHD).
From my previous teaching experience, I have successfully implemented a systematic synthetic phonics program (i.e., Jolly Phonics) and taught simple blending, rhyming and segmenting within 3 months to 3 students between the age of 3-4. One of them showed significant improvement in reading by moving up from Oxford Level 2 to Level 4 after 3 months of tutoring. Additionally, I am experienced in delivering classes through Zoom and using online functions to keep students engaged.
